Free Entrepreneurial Leadership Workshops

The Collider programme is an on-going series of activations including workshops, seminars, masterclasses, mentoring and much more for the Wellington community. Based at Biz Dojo, Wellington these workshops are too good to miss.

LX is Collider’s Leadership Programme for 2017. It’s a creative way to think about being a leader and design a leadership experience for you and who you lead.

This is not your usual leadership development workshop. Join us for monthly 90-minute lunchtime sessions and you’ll get fully active with hands-on creative thinking and deeply stimulating conversation with other entrepreneurial and enterprising people. We take our lead from a one-word provocation that changes each month so you can expand your leadership horizons further, faster.

We know that however inspiring workshops are, it’s easy to lose momentum when you get back into the fray of day-to-day work. Also, we know how important it is to surround yourself with like-minded people.

So, between the monthly LX sessions, you can join follow-up small group conversations in the LX Cafe – here you’ll be able to continue to let your ideas percolate, discuss progress and get round-table support from the LX community.

Cafe sessions are in person at Biz Dojo or an online working webinar and facilitated for deeper reflection, creative problem solving and forward planning.

LX Sessions are scheduled 12noon – 1.30pm, with light refreshments, served from 11.45am.

15 March – AUDACITY: fearless or reckless – audacity can be the double-edged sword of leadership. We’ll ponder the importance of embracing bold challenges that bring positive results.

12 April – AGILITY: agile and lean methodologies have taken the tech and entrepreneurial world by storm, embracing a fast, iterative and flexible way to design and build businesses and products. So, how can leaders and managers succeed in the fast-paced and ever-changing world we work.

10 May – HUMILITY: arguably the holy grail of leadership – humility takes leaders deep into the territory of we, not me. We explore what it takes to be a humbly powerful leader.

14 June – FLOW: being ‘in the flow’ is one of the highest states of creativity and productivity. But, in the busyness of being a leader and manager, it’s tough to find a good personal flow, let alone create the environment for others to be highly creative and productive. We’ll design some ways of tackling this eternal conundrum of working life.

12 JULY – INGENUITY: kiwis are renowned for their ingenuity. How can leaders generate more creative invention, with or without the number 8 wire.

9 AUGUST – PROGRESS: if leadership is about anything it’s about getting stuff done. We’ll muse on how leaders make meaningful progress, overcome resistance and get unstuck. And help others do the same

Here’s few thoughts from our first LX session participants on AUDACITY.

LX AUDACITY opened my eyes to how many leaders that are our there with similar ideas and looking to grow.

LX helped me get excited about the things I’m already planning and make them bolder.

When you get told you’re being unrealistic too often you start to believe it. Joining LX Audacity made me feel less alone about being an ambitious person.

Leadership Vs Management

Leader? Manager? It can be quite confusing to know the difference between the two. In order to get the best results out of your people and your company, you need to know which one to be.

This workshop deconstructed how leadership and management differ and explore the myths that separate the two.  We unpicked the conundrums facing leaders and managers who work in hands-on, creative and collaborative companies where things move quickly and change happens fast.

Culture Code

The most admired businesses are lauded for their great company culture. From the outside they seem to have a secret alchemy that makes their staff, customers and partners love them truly, madly and deeply. Or not.

In reality, culture doesn’t appear like magic. Successful companies deliberately create and constantly cultivate their cultural DNA to help the business grow and thrive. As much as all people in a business have a stake in its culture, the leaders and managers are the primary custodians of the state of a company’s culture.

Motivational Magic

In an ideal world your team will be firing on all cylinders all day and everyday. Your people are inspired to do their best work, extolling a bring-it- on-can-do attitude, and surpassing your expectations time and time again.

In reality people’s motivation naturally ebbs and flows; and can crash and burn for what seems an inexplicable reason. As leaders and managers we can be left wondering how do I motivate and empower my team?

This workshop dug into the tricky mind games of motivation to help you to design ways of working so that you no longer have to carry the motivation torch for your team all the time.

Being and Entrepreneur & An Executive

Founding a business takes vision, passion and determination with twist of entrepreneurial flair. As your company grows, matures and becomes more complex it often needs a more executive style of leadership for it to thrive.

Founders typically go from being chief of everything to chief operating officer and then find themselves as chief executive officer. It can be a struggle to be an entrepreneur and executive in your business but it doesn’t have to be a battle.
